With the USA Indoor Championship over, it was another good week showcasing America's best Field and Track athletes. BUT more importantly, this past weekend New Yorkers mixed it with the best from the rest (of the US).

The New Yorker of the week honors goes to Jenn Stuczynski. She jumped 15-5 to comfortably win the pole vault (2nd place was 14-9).

Stuczynski is New York through and through. She was born in Fredonia (located south west of Buffalo) and attended high school there. In 2005 she graduated from Roberts Wesleyan College (in Rochester). Currently, she still lives in Fredonia.

In 2008, she has been on a tear winning virtually everything in site. She won three meets from the VISA Championship Series including the Reebok Boston Indoor Games, Tyson Invitational and most notably- the AT&T USA Indoor Championship.

Check out more info on Stuczynksi through USATF and through Addidas.

Other New York Notables:

Another New Yorker who had a good week was also in the Pole Vault but on the men's side. Binghamton University's Rory Quiller placed 2nd in a lifetime best jump of 18-4.5 Quiller hails from West Point (north of New York City) and is in his final season at Binghamton.

Jen Rhines placed 2nd in the women's 3k just missing a national title by four seconds. Rhines New York routes are from Syracuse where she attended Liverpool High School. Even though she lives in California now, we still consider her a true New Yorker.

The New York Athletic Club also had a great showing with people performing well at the Indoor Championship. They had the female shot put winner with Jillian Camarena and the men's weight throw with Kibwe Johnson.

Congratulations to Stuczynksi and the rest of the New Yorkers.
