Not that it would surprise you, after their winning performances in the Prefontaine Classic earlier this month, but pole vaulter Brad Walker and shot putter Adam Nelson spoke very positively Tuesday about the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials being held at refurbished Hayward Field beginning June 27.

“There’s a reason why they call Eugene ‘Track City, USA’,’’ Nelson said, on a teleconference with reporters staged by the U.S. Olympic Committee and USA Track & Field. “They have the most dedicated fans in the country. Prefontaine was certainly just a glimmer of what it will be like for the Olympic Trials this year.
